The Adventures of Jake and Allie: Marvelous March!

March began with one of our favorite Austin events, the Zilker Park Kite Festival. We met up with a bunch of Jake's buddies from school and headed out for a beautiful day!

After the Kite Festival we headed to the JCC to catch the end of the Purim Carnival. Jake was all about the pony and the bouncy house, I know it's shocking!

Earlier that weekend, Jake and Daddy had a special afternoon out to see The Lorax. Jake is learning a love of movies from Alex and particularly enjoys the popcorn!

We also just introduced Allie to the exersaucer and so far she seems to love it!

She also had her first interaction with Bubba Duck. My dad has always been able to do a mean Donald Duck. She thinks it is hysterical!

Prepping for Purim with a visit from Rabbi Langer. Funniest thing about Purim is that last year they learned about Haman for the first time and now Jake uses it as a generic name for any bad guy!

Thank goodness for Purim, the Simba costume gets a second wear! Jake has definitely grown since Halloween!

Speaking of Haman, Bubba got Jake the perfect present. Meet the Haman punching bag!

It also allows Jake to practice (or something like that) his martial arts! He is just too much in the uniform.

We had a super fun impromptu playdate and dinner with the Riemer's. Jake and Jacob always have a good time together and Max slowed down enough to sit with Allie for a bit. Aren't they so cute!

Maybe it is because Jake is sitting in Allie's Bumpo chair, but Jake and Jacob look huge in this picture!

The following Friday after a fun night of dinner and running around fun at Central Market with some of Jake's friends and their families we got home to find Jake's eyes totally red, puffy and watering. It's oak season in Austin! Poor guy has some serious oak allergies and now we're having to fight with him on a variety of eye drops and nose sprays. It is not fun but thankfully oak season is only March and April.

Allie turned 6-months this week and I can't believe how quickly time has gone. She's sitting up, reacting to and playing with toys and remains the cutest baby girl ever! Check out the leg-warmers!

She has started on solids (well, mushy) foods. She was eyeing our food like a crazy woman so I thought she'd love having real food and have been surprised that she's not really into it. I hope we're not off to a bad start and I sure hope she's a more adventurous eater then her big brother.

Mimi came to Austin for her spring break and we had a great time having her here. Reunited with the littlest and she of course she brought presents!

We had so much fun having both Mimi and Bubba here. On Sunday we took a special trip to Kiddie Acres, an old-fashioned amusement park. Jake went on every ride and had a great time and Allie is almost always happy wherever she is. It was planes, trains (with Mimi), and automobiles (and boats) for Jake.
