It's still hot but in early August, camps were wrapping up and it was almost the end of our summer!
To close out camp, they had a showcase for each group to perform.
The Donuts did a dance and song combo.
Jake's basketball group showed off their skills!
Off for a quick trip to Chicago to celebrate Great!
Always love the view from my Grandma's apartment!
But this view is even better!
Hooray! Dillon, Auntie Rachel & Mimi arrived!
Hanging out at the playground!
The cutest trio of cousins!
All ready for Great's party!
Celebrating 95 is a big deal and these three were ready!
Celebrating 95 is a big deal and these three were ready!
Keeping Dillon busy before the party. Jake was a great babysitter.
Allie with the birthday girl!
Besides Great, Rigo was the star of the party. He has been the maintenance man at my grandma's condo since she moved in with my Grandpa 20+ years ago. He serenaded her with and she saved him a dance, as you'll see below.
Who knew putting straws in and out of a bottle was so much fun?
Mimi threw a perfect party! With lots of touches that were perfect for a Carol/Judy production!
Everyone was part of the party!
And then Great had her say!
Of course, we had cake!
I think we had it for breakfast the next morning too!
Clean up in Aisle 3
On Monday morning, Mimi, Auntie Rachel and the kiddos headed out on an adventure to the Brookfield Zoo. They had a fantastic time! I had a ton of calls so I worked from home in the morning and then I was lucky enough to take my grandma to lunch!
It was a "Great" day!
Then swimming in the afternoon with these crazies!
When we got back from Chicago, Allie caught the last several days of a drama camp. Below, her award winning portrayal of a monkey!
That weekend, the boys went to Houston to see the Houston Dynamo's soccer game and a 6-Points friend, Eidan (left) and his brother. Small world, turns out I went to camp with their dad!
Of course Alex became friends with the ticket guy and ended up with a VIP experience that Jake won't ever forget!
The girls stayed in Austin and had some girl-time including Allie's big girl pre-kindergarten haircut! We also had a movie night and playdate with some friends. We do love our girl-time!
And just like that, we were back to school!
Meet the teacher for both kiddos at Hill Elementary!
Allie is a "Daviator" with Ms. Davis!
We love her and the class so far!
Jake is loving 4th grade with Ms. Massengil. She's awesome and it has been a great start to the year!
Saturday before school started there was a kindergarten playdate run by our favorite P.E. teacher and JCC Camp Leader, Coach Schaffer.
Pre-Kinder Brunch with bestie, Hailey.
Here we go, 4th & Kindergarten!
Off they go!
As close as he'd let me get! See ya, mom!
100% Ready for Kindergarten!
Post first-day Amy's Ice Cream and hanging out with some cows!
Pre-Harvey shopping at HEB. Austin geared up for the storm like we were actually in the horrible storm's path. We were so lucky and our hearts break for all those who have been affected.
We layed low on Saturday and enjoyed happy hour with Harvey!
Impromtu family game night!
Sunday morning around 2:30 a.m. our power went off. We went to breakfast out and spend a LONG time at Barnes and Noble. We were lucky to be joined by good friends Penny and Clara and thankfully by about 4 p.m. the power was back on.
Back to school Monday with a delayed start. Allie isn't the biggest fan of starting the day with assembly, but we're getting better at drop-off.
Our soccer star got his new uniform and gear. Super cool.
Go River City Rangers!
We've loved that Uncle Warren was working on a project here in Austin! I was especially glad to have our travel schedules line up this time too!
Love that Ms. Davis has an Instagram account. So nice to be able to scroll and see this face during the day!
See you in Septmeber!
