2020...so far, a big bummer! (March - May)

Well, it certainly wasn't what we were expecting but 2020 has been a big bummer so far! This has been a strange time! More than anything else, we want all our friends and family to be safe and healthy and appreciate those who are working the front lines of fighting this virus and allowing us to stay home.

Before all of that...
Allie tried out for a hip-hop dance team, which she made but isn't into. It was still a cool experience.

Jake's soccer season ended early because of Covid, but they ended up in the top spot for their division. They're also being moved up to the next division which the team had been working towards!

A post-workout coffee treat at Epoch Coffee!

We began sheltering-in-place on Friday, March 13 (yes, Friday the 13th) when school was cancelled the last day before spring break.

We started our Spring Break with no water and a giant whole in the street in front of our house. Thankfully, it was fixed by morning!
We started shelter-in-place with Spring Break so it was pretty much a week off! We played lots of games (something we've continued to do) and tried to come to terms with the new reality we were facing.
I was pretty convinced that these were/are the heroes of quarantine!
I set up a puzzle/crafts table and I haven't completed a single puzzle yet.
(yes, writing this in May...editors note: it's June and the table is put away)!
Kirby has been the big winner of quarantine with so many walks and all of his people home all of the time. He's also been the best distraction and cuddle friend!

We're super sad that both 6 Points Sports Academy and CYJ Texas are both cancelled for the summer! Both camps have done a great job of engaging with the campers both before deciding to close and afterwards with lots of online activities and time for connecting with friends.

6 Points Sports Trivia!
In quarantine we've...
Played lots of board games!
We take turns picking the game and while we roll our eyes when daddy picks the same games every time, we always laugh through them.
We've been exercising a lot too. We've already designed a new work out room but we'll see if that stays or if we head back to the gym. Thanks to Orange Theory at home, Peloton App and YouTube for all the workouts!

One of us, who shall remain nameless, isn't  really putting in the effort. You'd think his downward dog would be awesome...but not so much!

We've Zoomed...for school, work and fun!

Just a few of many...
game night with Brian & Lilly!

I zoomed with my 5th grade (through high school) Hebrew School Crew!

Family catch-up with Great!
Sorry for the closed eyes shot, Mimi.
And like so many, we Zoomed Passover Seder!

We drank...
(a mostly appropriate amount)

If there is anything from Corona to keep it's the drive-through margaritas!

In an effort to support local business, I bought us a wine tasting with Becker Vineyards.

Kirby has brought us a lot of joy and entertainment as well. I'm still not sure how Jake managed to get him in a sleeping bag!

The class pet was staying at Allie's friend Evelyn's house so we went to visit Oreo the Guinea Pig!

After Spring Break, Mom & Dad School was in session! We came up with an agreed upon schedule that was fairly successful until school was back online.
  Art Class

Probably my proudest quarantine/home-school moment!

 Reading Time
 Online Learning
And even helping each other! Allie looks surprised, right?
We've done a little baking! Even more so now after Mimi sent us some great cookbooks for kids! It's a pandemic so why not have green chocolate chip cookies!

Our friends who run a juice shop started delivering fresh produce including giant sweet potatoes!

Who knows what summer will bring but we'll do our best to find the beauty and good in it!
